Hey friends! Last week I shared our One Room Challenge Mudroom Mood Board with you. This week I’m back with an update! Just to jog your memory, here is that moodboard that shares my vision for the space:
Here is what the mudroom looked like before this challenge started:
Even though the mudroom doesn’t look drastically different, I feel like I’ve already made huge strides. This week I hung the new light, painted the walls, painted the door, built faux wainscoting, and installed new hook rails.
We’ll start by talking about this AMAZING light fixture. It’s the Euro Metro Ceiling Light from Lamps Plus. A few months back I had installed the Hemingson light in here. Well that only lasted a few weeks because my husband was constantly hitting it (he’s 6’5″ and these ceilings are not even 8′ high). I ended up moving the Hemingson to our powder bathroom and had been on the hunt for a modern glamourous flush mount light ever since. Last year I rounded up a bunch of modern affordable flush mount lights and hadn’t found this one yet. This is definitely at the TOP of my list!
You’ll see I also painted the hook rails and the door with my favorite green: Benjamin Moore Hidden Falls. On the kids hook wall I added two vertical boards for a faux wainscoting look. I love the depth this deep green brings to the room.
The other showstopper in this space is these new hooks. They’re the Pilltop two prong coat hooks from D.Lawless hardware. These hooks have a heavy solid feel to them and I really like how substantial they feel. I’m hoping that having more hooks solves some of our storage dilemmas.
I’ve got a big piece of art coming for above the kids hooks that is going to look awesome on this big open space.
Over to the other side of the mudroom you can get a sense of how much I still have to do! Here’s how the “to-do list” is looking for the space.

- Install new hinges and door knob
- Install window coverings
- Assemble storage wardrobes
- Paint and Stencil Flooring
- Replace cream outlets and switches

Thanks a ton for following along with this space! I am so excited to bring it character and function with this makeover. I am so thankful to the sponsors of this space: WallsNeedLove, Lamps Plus, Rockler, Blindster, D. Lawless Hardware, Amy Howard, Minted, and Sauder. Without them, this room and blog wouldn’t be possible!
