Now that the weather is getting colder it’s time to bring out the cozy throw blankets!
Not only are they a winter necessity, but they’re one of my favorite ways to add a pop of color or texture to a room. In my opinion the best way to make someone feel welcome in your living room, is to make sure there’s always a cozy throw within an arms reach. Today I rounded up some of my favorite cozy throw blankets and where I like to use them.
Blankets with Texture
When considering types of blankets, think about using ones that bring in additional textures and patterns. This pom pom blanket was from Christmas gift from my mom that she bought at West Elm, but sadly it’s discontinued. I found a few other similar ones which I shared below. I really believe tassels and pom poms make a good blanket great!
Sofa Blankets
Typically, the same blanket is draped over the back of our couch. It’s one that we’ve had for ten years! It’s nice and heavy and we’ve got it in the king size, this makes it great for sharing. The best thing is that Target still sells it here. I’ve also given it as a wedding gift multiple times. Here’s three similar ones that would look great anywhere.
Bedroom Throws
In order to make a bedroom more cozy, I like to drape a throw over the foot of a bed. That way there’s something to use to cover up and read with, without having to tear apart the bed covers. Or if you take a short nap you can cover up without climbing under the sheets. Recently I moved this blanket to the foot of our bed and I love how it looks here. At my friend Heather’s house she has a fur blanket which also looks great.
In my boys’ room there’s always a variety of blankets ending up on their beds. I’d love to splurge on Pendleton Wool Blankets, but for now they just have knit ones. Here’s a few blankets that I think would look great in any kids room:
How to Display Throw Blankets
- In a basket
- Folded over the back of a sofa (vertically, not horizontally)
- Draped over an ottoman or chair
- Folded or draped at the foot of a bed
- Draped or folded over a decorative ladder
