I already told you all about how much I love the new bed I got for the girl room. Once I got it all set up I decided to play around with it a little bit and try to do something a bit creative and different with it.
This all started when I picked up this vintage wicker headboard for just $12 at a junk sale! I hauled it back to ND, cleaned it up, and gave it a couple coats of Krylon Oxford Blue. Then I positioned it against the wall as a headboard.
At the same sale I also picked up this absolutely gorgeous pink ombre crocheted blanket for just $8!! I’m not sure if was new or vintage, but it’s in great shape and is just so stunning.
Don’t you think that the blue wicker next to the crisp white bed really pops? I also think that pairing new modern items like this bed with vintage items like the headboard keep the room “vintage modern” without being “dated vintage”.
I also loved how the blue wicker ties in with the other blues I had in the room, like the adorable vintage chair that I cleaned up, as well as the gold dipped navy dresser that IÂ refinished.
Of course I couldn’t leave good enough alone, and decided to play with one other look! As a little girl I thought daybeds were the coolest, and I wanted to give my daughter the daybed of my dreams! So I painted a headboard right onto the wall!

Because the bedroom is so little, using the Sauder Mate’s Bed as the base for it was the perfect solution. This way I didn’t have to deal with trying to fit a typical bulky daybed. Again I just love how the navy of the headboard pops against the white bed. I also love how the white vines I drew tie in with the white bed.
So what’s your opinion? Do you like the blue wicker headboard more, or the painted daybed headboard more? I love them both so much that I can’t decide if I should paint over the wall and go with option #1, or if I should stick with the daybed and sell the wicker headboard for the adoption fund??
I love both of them! She’s going to feel loved and amazing in both. However I think the wicker looks expensive and timeless.
Aw thanks! I sort of am thinking that I agree on the wicker. The painted headboard is a little more “DIY” and the wicker is a little more “designer”. Even though I really do love them both.
So pretty! I love the painted headboard idea…but I think I like the wicker best. I agree that it compliments the other blues in the room. 🙂
