Chair Transformation- Turning a Dirty Chair into a Beauty
Earlier this week I shared the perfect little bed I found for our girl room. Today I’m sharing the perfect little chair. Last winter I was pretty pumped to find this vintage chair for just $30. The biggest issue was that it was pretty dirty. I also wasn’t in love with the skirt around the bottom.
I attacked it with the upholstery cleaning attachment on my carpet cleaner and got it looking MUCH cleaner. I also put it in the sun for 2 days, so that the sun could do it’s work bleaching it. Then I took it inside and decided it was time to expose those pretty Midcentury little legs.
I flipped it over, and cut most of the skirt off using my sewing scissors. I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous cutting a perfectly good skirt off.
Then I took my staple gun and stapled the remaining fabric to the wood frame.
Once I was finished this is what the bottom of the chair looked like.
Then I flipped it back over and it was done! Simple huh? I think it looks way more updated with the exposed legs, and I’m pretty happy with how much cleaner it is too!
And isn’t it just perfect for the girl room? I’m loving how it plays off the navy dresser.
When I work on her room I can’t help but envision her in it. Even though we’ve still got a long wait ahead I know that one day we will be sitting in that chair, snuggling and reading books together!
