Last weekend we were in Minnesota for the weekend to celebrate Jack’s 6th bug birthday party and my niece Collins’ 2nd birthday party. Coming up with a theme for a 2 year old girl and 6 year old boy was a bit interesting. After considering our options we ended up deciding on a bug theme! This suits Jack who loves spiders, and Collins who loves ladybugs.
We had almost all of our immediate family there, and it made for such a special day. Who needs a “friend party” when you can make play dough bugs with all 5 cousins?!
Our “Party Favors” were ladybug and bee wings, and all the cousins thought these were great.
They were the perfect attire for our “bug hunt” which was the party highlight. (On a side note doesn’t my sister-in-law look great at 37 weeks pregnant!?!)
All of the kids had to find 10 of these “ladybugs” that my mom painted and hid. Basically an Easter Egg Hunt tailored to a birthday party!
We also had individual “pinatas” in the form of personal balloons filled with candy. This was great because there was no battling it out for candy, and everyone got to be the one who breaks it! You can see Matt was a little intimidated by Mason’s swing!
This shot was hard enough to get with one camera, we didn’t need to be attempting with all five cameras!
Of course I attempted to get a picture with my sweetie.
And of course he ruined all attempts with his obnoxious poses.
It was so much fun to be with my whole side of the family for the weekend, I am so thankful for birthday weekends like these!
