If you’ve been following BrightGreenDoor for very long, you know that we’ve been in a LONG process to adopt a little girl from Haiti. Well we’re FINALLY in the home stretch, and we’ll be heading to Haiti on Tuesday the 17th to bring her home for good!
We are currently living in our fourth home since we started this process! After deciding to adopt we moved into our auction house. I completely decorated it and planned on bringing her home there. I just loved the way that room turned out.
We ended up selling that home and moving into our Retro Ranch. Again, I decorated a room for her that I was sure she’d come home to.
Then we sold that house and moved into our current house, the Marquette house. Her room had old carpeting, purple walls, and I was adamant that I wouldn’t decorate it until she was TRULY coming home.
Well that day is FINALLY here! When we laid the flooring for the reading nook we also installed laminate flooring in there. We also painted the walls Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Grey. Now I get to have some fun decorating this bedroom. We’re heading to get Ysa next Tuesday and we’ll be bringing her home for good on the 23rd, so I’m hustling to get this space done! Today I’m sharing the modern girl room mood board. You’ll notice that many of the elements have been in the past rooms I’ve done for her, but there’s also some fun new stuff! So here it is, the modern girl room mood board.
I started building this mood board using items that I already had. Then I discovered the Crimson Poppy Wallpaper Mural from A New Wall. I fell in love instantly. This became my springboard for the entire room. After ordering the wallpaper mural, I pulled in the rest of the mood board. The only reason this room makeover is even possible is thanks to a few amazing sponsors. Lamps Plus, A New Wall, and Blindster are all helping by providing product to create this beautiful space. The one design decision that I’m still torn on is the curtains. Initially I was sure that blue curtains would be right. Now I’m on the fence and am considering the pink curtains. What’s your take? Blue or Pink?
I’ve been secretly working on this room for the past few weeks and although it’s not done, it’s starting to come together. I actually ordered the blue curtains, hung one, and still couldn’t decide if they would look better in pink. So I ordered the pink curtains and they’ll be arriving on Wednesday. Return shipping will be $12 for whichever ones I don’t keep, but I just couldn’t make a final decision without seeing both! I’ll be back soon to update you on our progress, because I’ve only got a week to finish this room!
