Remember a few weeks ago when our master bathroom looked like this?
And I shared our mood board and plans for the modern industrial master bath?
Well today I’m back to share our progress and how it’s coming along! Right after sharing our plans we ripped EVERYTHING out. This is where we discovered water damage that we had to repair in the subfloor. After putting down new subfloor we poured self leveling cement to give us a fresh work surface.
We had to wait a day for that to cure, but once it was cured I got started on hanging tongue and groove paneling around three sides of the bathroom.
The planking started slow while I made sure it was all level and measured properly.
But once I got everything cut it got moving pretty quickly.
I decided to stop halfway up the walls so that I could use a dark wall color above the planking sort of like this. I also installed my Levolor Custom Size Now Cordless Blinds that I had cut to the right width for free at Lowe’s.
Once the planking is painted white I think that it will look awesome with the blinds. These blinds can only be found at Lowe’s and are safer for pets & children due to no dangling cords. They also provide a clean easy look to the room, which fits my clean modern vibe perfectly. I also love that we’ll finally have some bathroom privacy!
We had a plumber come and move the shower pipes, so once we finish tiling they’ll be all ready to hook up to. He also hung the shower head REALLY high to accommodate my 6’4″ hubby.
We installed our Onyx custom shower pan from Lowe’s that I love. It had to be custom to fit the unique size of the bathroom and placement of the old drain hole. It will be so nice to have a full size shower in such a small bathroom!
We haven’t started laying tile yet, but that will be this weekend’s project! I LOVE these dark planks and I think they’re going to look awesome.
Especially against the paneling once it’s painted white!
Now that we’ve made some progress, you can actually see how amazing this bathroom will be! We’re definitely ready to move back to being a “two bathroom family”, if you have kids, you know that 4 and 6 year olds aren’t very patient when they have to go! Hopefully in a week or two I’ll be updating you on a finished industrial modern bathroom!
On a final note, isn’t our DIY barn door just a perfect way to tie in the industrial look? Gosh I’m excited for this bathroom!
