A few weeks ago I noticed an ad for an estate sale starting a noon. At 10 til noon I was leaving playgroup and I remembered the sale. Matt happened to be working from home so I quick dropped the boys and showed up at 12:02. I walked into the house at the end of the crowd and while everyone headed for the main floor rooms I tried to avoid the crowd and headed straight to the basement. It turned out that these three gems were all hidden away in the basement and the main floor was full of junk! As I was walking up the stairs with my finds a guy actually cursed at me for “finding all the good stuff”! Anyways, here’s the goods:
First, this little wood table has cute Mid-Century lines, but has a laminate top and is in need of some sanding and repairs. Even though I’m pretty much Anti-Paint when it comes to Mid-Century furniture this piece will likely end up with some paint on it. I’ll share it when I get to it (it’s one of at least 15 pieces I need to work on).
Next, this vintage “Vornado” metal fan. I gave it a good clean, buff, and polish and am in love with it.
I can’t decide how in love with it I really am though, because I searched the Ebay sold listings for this exact model and found that it sells for $70-$100! If I decide to part with this gem I could make a nice little profit.
I also picked up this cool old metal suitcase. I’m on the verge of having one too many vintage suitcases in our house (plus the 10+ that I have for sale at Desiree’s), but this was too cool to pass up. Currently it’s just chilling next to my Expedit, but suitcases in this house never stay put long. It may end up being toy storage, a nightstand topper, on display in a corner, or on a dresser. I don’t think I’ll be selling this one because I just like it too much. Gold, Brown, Vintage, and houndstooth inside… it really doesn’t get better than that.
I am SO pumped for garage sale and auction season, and hoping to find more cool vintage stuff like this. Even though our house is bursting at it’s vintage treasure seams, I love the hunt and supporting our adoption fund by reselling these treasures!
Love your finds. I can’t wait for warmer weather…one of the reasons is garage sale season. It should be fun.
I love these finds! I’m featuring you tomorrow for #thriftscorethursday 🙂 That retro fan is just too cool – I’d love to find one like it!
P.S. The words vintage, free, diy’ed and gold DEFINE me, so I know I’m in the right place! 😉
Thanks so much for the feature! I’m so glad you found my blog!
