Haiti Update
Hey friends! Many of you have been following in our LONG journey to adopt, so I just wanted to share a quick update!
After almost one full year since our two-week bonding trip, on Tuesday we flew into Port-au-Prince. Although we had FaceTimed with our daughter, we weren’t sure if she’d love and accept us, or push us away.Â
We were amazed when the moment our van pulled into the orphanage she came RUNNING and jumped into Matt’s arms! Our first moments together were filled with hugs, kisses, and lots of love. This melted my heart, and showed me that she really is ready to come home.
Since that moment our time together has included lots of playing, laughing, and snuggles. Her attitude has been so wonderful, and I really think that God did a miraculous work in her heart to prepare her to come home.
Today and tomorrow we’re spending the days with a translator, learning all about her likes and dislikes, routines, and talking to her about what’s going to happen once we get home!
Leaving Haiti is going to be an entire new world for Ysmerline! She has barely been beyond the walls of the orphanage, and she is about to experience a hotel, car, airplane, airports, American food, doctor’s appointments, and the bitter cold of the Midwest. Along with all these new experiences, she’s also going to be learning what it looks like to be in a family and be loved unconditionally. To have brothers and parents who love you no matter what. She also will be learning English. Basically her entire world is about to change.
Until her world gets turned upside down, we’re trying to just enjoy being together and bond as much as possible.Â
Please be in prayer that she will handle the transition smoothly! Pray for favor through immigration, and favor through our travels. Also for her sweet little heart. She is saying goodbye to a nanny that she loves, and friends that are like siblings.Â
Thank you so much for joining us in this journey, and following along as we bring her home. I can absolutely feel God’s presence and know that he has done a HUGE work in her heart!
What I see when I read your post is a beautiful smiling girl! I too believe God has changed her heart. I am so excited to meet her!
