DIY Garden Picket Sign

July 9, 2013 By BrightGreenDoor

Cheap Garden Pickets were a great material for creating this DIY Garden Picket Sign.

A few months ago I made this garden picket sign by screwing a bunch of garden pickets together and staining it, but then I couldn’t decided what I wanted to put on the sign. For too long it hung in our bedroom empty and waiting for it’s fate. Finally I decided to summarize our wedding verse, Colossians 3:12-14 which ends with “Above all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity”.

I considered painting it, considered stenciling it, but settled on using these permanent markers. I was leery that I would start coloring in a few letters and the ink would run out, but I decided to take the risk and I’m so glad I did! I LOVE the way the sign turned out.

This is so cute! I’m obsessed with these types of wooden signs right now. 🙂 So glad I found you through the LLR linky party!

THANKS! Initially I was going to make it out of pallet wood but I am incredibly clumsy and dis-assembling a pallet sounded treacherous for me! The garden stakes worked awesome!

I just freehanded them while looking at the ones I printed. I just would hold up each printout right next to the letter I was writing to get the size right.
