Bright Green Door

Come on in and be inspired!

Silestone Lyra Quartz Countertops

March 5, 2015 By BrightGreenDoor

Looks like it’s kitchen week around here! First I shared our butcher block island, then yesterday I shared about our new farmhouse sink. Now today I am sharing the counters and the backsplash, finally! We went with Silestone Lyra Quartz Countertops with a sueded finish and ogee edge. It was definitely the biggest splurge of the entire kitchen, but also one of my favorite updates.

Farmhouse Sink with Quartz Contertops

Ever since we installed our bigger kitchen window we’ve had this unfinished drywall behind the sink. After a year of this look I was SO ready to get this backsplash done.

Once the counters were installed we got busy working on the backsplash.

Installing Undermount Farmhouse Sink

We used “Ancient Gray” Ceramic Subway tile from Lowes with Gray Grout.

I was a little bit nervous about using anything other than typical white subway tile, since that’s what most modern kitchens are using, but I LOVE the way it turned out. I think the patterns and varying tones are stunning. I also love how it pulls the grey out in the counters.

As much as I’m in love with the Quartz countertops, I’m glad we went with the wood island because it warms up the whole space.

White Counters and Gray Subway Tile Backsplash

We finished the kitchen last weekend and I’ve already done a TON of cooking in it. I think the new space even makes doing dishes better!

In case you haven’t been following throughout this journey, this auction house kitchen has come a LONG ways!

I love your pendant lights over the island…where did you get them?

I love your counter tops and would love some more details on where you purchased and possibly the brand and color name. They’re exactly what I have been looking for!

I love the butcher block and enjoyed that post. I probably should have been more specific…your quartz counters is what I was referring to. I love that they have the look of marble. Pardon the confusion and thanks for the reply!

Oh I’m sorry. I should have paid more attention! Yes we used Silestone Lyra Suede from Lowes. They did the measuring and install and it was awesome. The suede was more than the gloss, but I just love the way the suede looked and felt. We bought during a sale and used a 10% off coupon.

Perfect! Thank you. I have to go check out Lowe’s. I really appreciate your help!

I am wondering if the backsplash tile is easy to clean since it’s not polished. We are trying to decide between the Ancient Gray and a polished Calcutta marble tile. Thanks!!

This backsplash wiped clean easily, but in our next house we did a rougher backsplash that was a bit harder to clean. I spilled chili that splashed on it and it took some scrubbing, but eventually it came clean. That was the only issue I had with that one though. Here is the link to the post on that backsplash: https://www.brightgreendoor.com/install-a-mosaic-tile-backsplash/ It sounds like both of your options would be beautiful!

I’ve been looking at the same backsplash! What was the color grout you used exactly? Also, my cabinets aren’t as bright white as yours, so do you think the coloring in the tile would make the cabinets look dirty? Thank you!

I THINK that it was Accucolor “Dove Gray”. I wish I would have written it down. No I think this tile would look great with any color cabinets. It’s got a lot of variation in it. We loved how it looked. Good luck!
