My good friend Rebekah is pregnant with boy #3, and when I asked her about her nursery colors she told me, “Turquoise, Baby Blue, and Avocado Green”. This meant when I saw this fabric I knew exactly what I was going to make his quilt out of. It is “Mischief” by Nancy Halvorsen for Benartex. I also just realized the colors are strikingly similar to the blog design. I guess I just like the color combo! Today I want to share with you my DIY 3 Hour Flannel Strip Baby Quilt.

Of course I made another DIY 3 hour flannel strip baby quilt, because I’m still on a rag quilt kick, (here’s my tutorial) and they are just SO soft.

Sometime soon I’ll start branching out and making more than just rag quilts!

Baby Floyd will be arriving the beginning of March and even though I won’t be there right away to snuggle him up I’m happy to know that Rebekah will be able to snuggle him up in this blanket.

If you want to know exactly how I made this DIY 3 Hour Flannel Strip Baby Quilt, I followed the same tutorial I used last time, posted here!

The top photo looks as if it’s a rail fence pattern. Or is it just the way it was edited?
Probably just the way that the picture looks. It’s just straight strips. Thanks for checking it out!
Do you just cut strips and sew them together!
Yep! It’s so simple!
I would like to make this bigger. Would I add maybe 20”strip to each strip prior to sewing them together ? I’m not sure how to do the math, but really love your strip quilts here.
Yes! I’m no math whiz either but you could definitely make it longer by adding strips at the top and bottom. Otherwise you could go any width you’d like by purchasing your fabric in that length and cutting the strips the width direction rather than the length… hopefully that makes sense? Thanks so much for reading!
Hi, I just made one of your rag quilts, and it came out so cute…I have one question though. When I am sewing my strips down the middle, the top piece works out to be like a inch longer than the bottom piece. They are cut the same length. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on why this happens and if there is anything I can do about it?
I just wait and trim them all once they’re all sewed together. It happens to me too. I’m so glad it turned out well!
Is it ok that the strips look all puckered after I sew them together – because of that center stitch. It looks messy but will it all turn out good once it gets washed?
Yes mine usually pucker up a bit. It does look a bit messy until washed and dryed. I hope yours turned out great!
