How to Paint a Brick Fireplace for Christmas

December 11, 2012 By BrightGreenDoor

Today I’m sharing how to paint a brick fireplace.

Back in April, when we bought our house this is what the living room looked like: Built in tuner, record player and speakers, paneling, brassy cabinet pulls, fake logs, and red fireplace.
So then I took off all the cabinet doors, pulled out the tuner and speakers, and lived with the honey colored wood for the last 8 months.
Then I painted the inside of the fireplace black and the brick white for an amazing transformation.

Do you remember these curtains that were literally shredding off their rod that consumed the entire room?
Well last week was FINALLY living room transformation week. I painted the paneling the same color as in the dining room and painted the built ins with the leftover “Cabinet Transformation” paint from the kitchen cabinets.
Talk about a serious transformation huh? I wouldn’t let Matt put up a single Christmas decoration until I was done!
Now I have the perfect white background for my snow village! I also sanded and stained the mantle and put a piece of wood down for the hearth that I sanded and stained. Remember when it was red tile or leftover mortar that Mase was standing on?
I am SO happy that I finally made some time to get this done! It looks SO much better and is so much more inviting. I still need to finish painting all of the honey colored trim white, and paint the front door that now clashes badly with the painted paneling.
