Last weekend was the absolute perfect fall weekend. We didn’t tackle any major projects and we really didn’t have anything pressing to do. This meant that I was able to convince my family to tour the Fall Parade of Homes with me! Although there were 40 homes on the tour, we chose to walk through 8 of the most modern homes. After soaking in every detail I am so inspired and excited over some of the new home design trends that I saw.
1. Metal/Iron Railings
Over and over we saw the coolest metal railings. This is one awesome example of an entire metal floating staircase. If you’re not looking for a huge metal staircase I even saw some simple metal railings that looked awesome.
2. Plank Tile Floors
I LOVE the plank tile floor that we installed in our bathroom. I saw numerous houses with plank tile floors throughout. I think the key to making them warm and inviting is having them heated. This is such a durable and low maintenance option.
3. Horizontal Windows
See those wide horizontal windows on the top right? I saw windows like these throughout the Parade homes in many different spaces. I think we will be seeing them in spaces like kitchens and bathrooms more and more.
4. Metal Roofs
This house was my absolute favorite of the entire tour. The black metal roof gave it so much character. Metal roofs have a way of making a traditional home look a lot more modern. I’ve also heard great things about their durability.
5. Black Windows
I’ve always loved black windows, I even rounded up a bunch of my favorite houses with black windows. I think this is a trend that’s here to stay.
6. Exposed Concrete
We weren’t allowed to take pictures inside the houses, but there was one house with multiple awesome exposed concrete walls. It’s so simple, but it adds so much texture and dimension. I can see this totally taking off.
7. Planked Walls
8. Unique Garage Doors
9. Metal Exterior Accents
10. Bold House Numbers
