Happy May Day! One of my favorite holidays of the year! Also the date my husband and I went on our first date! One tradition that the kids and I love is baking and giving away cookies on May Day! In Minnesota, being a fairly Scandinavian state May Day was widely celebrated. It wasn’t until I moved away that I realized everyone doesn’t celebrate! The premise is that you leave treats for your friends on their doorstep and run away before they can catch you! If they catch you you have to give them a kiss!
My boys love an excuse to play “ding dong ditch” and I love being able to bake for friends! I always make my tried and true chocolate chip cookies that everyone loves. This year I created these printables using this floral watercolor I found here. I created three different versions. One that says “Happy May Day”, one that I attached to the cookies and one for teachers. The teacher version is because my daughter wanted to give baskets to her teachers, but we weren’t going to “ding dong ditch” them!
Even if you didn’t grow up celebrating May Day this is still a great tradition you can start with your kids! To download the free May Day Printables just click here.
