The boys and I have a serious May Day tradition. It involves baking TONS of chocolate chip cookies, then running around town leaving them on our friends doorsteps. OK, so maybe it’s not so serious, but it’s so much fun! A few days before May Day many of our friends started *hinting* towards whether or not they’d be getting a famous cookie basket.
This tradition actually started when I was a kid and my mom would do the same thing with us! Every year I do things a little different, but it always involves cookies, a flowerpot, and some flower seeds. I love that after the cookies are eaten the pot and flowers are still a reminder of our friendship!
These pictures were from May Day last year. These guys think giving away May Day baskets is one of the funnest things ever, and I’ve heard them both say, “This is the best day of my life”! I love being able to create such special memories with them!
I created this free printable to share with you! Of course it doesn’t say “Love, the McGurns”, I left it blank for each of you to personalize! I hope that it inspires you to start a new May Day tradition in your family! Of course your tradition doesn’t need to involve baking cookies. Maybe you’ll attach these to a pack of gum for a friend. Or maybe attach it to a bouquet of flowers? Maybe it’s as simple as printing some of these and hanging them out on May Day? Either way I hope that you fall in love with May Day!
If you end up starting this tradition, I HIGHLY recommend my amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe! It’s a really good one, I promise!
