Since buying this auction house, our front door has gone through a major evolution to get to the point we’re finally at! We started with this original 50’s door that was sort of cute, but also in terrible condition.
It also had this storm door that you had to hit HARD to get to open. Frequently friends would think they were locked in our house who just didn’t understand how hard to hit it!
When we painted our house last summer, I updated to these gorgeous copper craftsman exterior fixtures, but the ugly storm door and damaged door remained.
Finally this winter when a contractor friend mentioned he had some extra time between two jobs we hired him to install our new craftsman front door and storm door. We went with a fiberglass door with a faux wood finish, very similar to this one.

We chose this handle set and love it.
We chose this storm door and love it as much as you can possibly love a storm door. It’s got a screen that just pulls down from the top that’s so nice. It’s also insulated enough that we leave the main door wide open in winter time and don’t feel any drafts.
It’s hard to tell in this picture, but it has the coloring of many of the lighter wood tones in the floor. We went for full privacy seeded glass, which I really appreciate. At night when it is shut I feel completely private, but all day long we can let in all the light through the storm door.
On the outside the storm door glares keep you from being able to see much of the front door. This is sort of a bummer because it’s so pretty! Still though, I REALLY love the storm door so it’s worth it.
Now that we finally have a Craftsman Front Door our Craftsman accents make sense!
Obviously these pictures are a bit dated… the door was finished right before Christmas, but I didn’t get the inside trimmed out until recently. I just couldn’t share only a half finished door. You’ll forgive me right?
We’ve really made quite a transformation since buying this house a year and a half ago huh? I just love how it’s turned out!
