One project that gets daily use around our house is the boys’ rolling lego tray. This is a DIY project that we didn’t remember to take any pics during the process. It’s so simple though that I’m sure by looking at a few pics you could easily make one for your own lego loving kiddos.
We just constructed two rectangles out of 2×4’s, then used 1×1’s to attach the two levels two each other. Then we took thin plywood to create a bottom to each rectangle. The whole project took about an hour.
Once it was built we added some casters on the bottom, and a metal handle on the end. The handle is actually the leftover basket handle from the DIY Metal Basket Cage Light in the same room.
I painted it Clark & Kensington’s Tuxedo Black. There’s really nothing exceptional about this DIY other than how functional it is.
We built it to the perfect specifications to slide right between the foot of the boys’ beds.
Often after the lights are out I catch them kneeling at the foot of their beds trying to put the finishing touches on just one more lego creation.
If loose legos and lego creations are threatening to take over your life, I just KNOW that you could build one of these!
If you don’t have the space for such big lego storage, you might like to just build a tray like we did in our last house.
