Church Christmas Decorating
Our family goes to a GREAT church here in Dickinson, and a few weeks ago a call for Christmas decorating help went out. I LOVE Christmas, and Christmas decorations so I was quick to volunteer. My friend Amy volunteered as well and came up with the theme of the Psalm 100, “Make a Joyful Noise to the LORD all the Earth!”.
We had about 7 days from when we decided what we were going to do until we had to have it all decorated. Remember, we don’t live in the land of Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, or Michaels. We had Wal-Mart to work with!
I made the verse by cutting letters out of cardstock and taping them to fishline hung across the baptismal.
The altar just had a few presents wrapped with sheet music hymns in our theme of, “Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord”. We also put these tags on them that I made using Picasa and this clip art.
Around the piano I made this bunting using these vintage Christmas Hymns and Carols. We also hung the bunting across the wreaths.
Didn’t the tree look beautiful? Amy did an awesome job making the balls and music scrolls out of sheet music and glitter modge podge. I just collected pinecones and put some gold glitter on them with elmers glue and a red ribbon.
We actually had ordered some gold instruments and gold music notes but when they arrived they were SO cheesy and huge that we decided to scrap them. I’m glad we did. It was fun to arrive at church Sunday morning and see all our hard work on display!
