That’s right. We’re talking about our new yard and landscaping. Otherwise known as one hot mess. Actually the temperature lately= HOT, and the yard= MESS. I can’t officially call it “our yard”, because we don’t close on the new house until Thursday, but the old owners moved out over a month ago, and it has been sitting lonely and begging for attention. I reasoned with Matt that once we close I’d rather be painting inside than working outside, so we jumped the gun and started working on the yard this week.
Here’s our street view. Weedy driveway? Check. Overgrown evergreen shrub taking over the yard? Check.
This is our overtaking evergreen at the foot of the driveway with a random tree popping out of it.
Our street view. Yes the house is behind there. That is an apple tree with a couple little trees that have sprouted from underneath it. As for those two evergreens one is going to have to go.
Our street and sidewalk.
Our “Oh so NOT inviting” front porch and very dry front lawn. Would you believe there’s actually a sprinkler system on this house?!?
The side of the garage. 100% weeds.
The backyard and the “jungle portion” of the yard. Yes, about a 12’x12′ portion is randomly overgrown with a big dead tree in the middle of it.
As you can see we’ve got some work in store for us. Does anyone have any lawn advice? Should we kill the whole weedy mess and start from scratch? Or fertilize and overseed and hope to choke out the weeds? Call in a hydroseeder? For now we’ll just keep clearing brush and hope that soon you’ll be able to see the house from the road!
