Yesterday I shared our Christmas front porch with you, today I am sharing the inside our of home decorated for Christmas! After looking through many GORGEOUS homes and Christmas home tours I started to feel like ours was inadequate. I started to believe my decor was too “traditional” for someone who loves modern decor. I started comparing and was feeling down.
But at the end of the day, I realized that I do LOVE our home, especially at Christmas time. Even if everything in it isn’t modern and trendy it is made up of things I have collected and been gifted over the years with love. So I decided that I would share our “vintage modern christmas home tour”, with the goal of sharing love and inspiring! I hope that you can leave inspired and feeling like your home is “enough”. Enjoy it, especially at Christmas!
Inside the house we’re still under construction so I was hoping to mask our unfinished wall with this lighted garland.
This is our first year with our 7 foot tree and I love it. Before hanging ornaments I just wrapped it with red mesh/tulle. I hung wreaths on all of our front windows this year. Not only are they beautiful from the outside, but I think they look great from the inside too!
Last year my mom gifted me this vintage inspired “Merry Christmas” garland from her friend’s shop, “The Woodland Meadow” in Minnesota.
Every ornament on our tree is unique and special. One of our yearly traditions is that I hand out the ornaments and explain the story behind each one while the boys hang them. This is the one Mason made for me at school this year, and he couldn’t wait to gift it to me and get it on the tree!
This ornament is also extra special this year, because it was given to me by one of the other Three Angels, “mamas in waiting”. The pink symbolizes our little girl in Haiti who we are celebrating Christmas without this year.
Our “Christmas Nail” was given to me by a good friend. The point of this ornament is to hang it among the presents. That way every time you reach for a Christmas present you remember the most important present of Christmas: Our Savior!
Even my “put on love” sign got festive with a felt mistletoe garland. This year I hung various garlands everywhere they would hang!
I picked up this vintage window from my friend’s Desiree’s shop (Desiree’s Design) and it made the perfect picture frame! I just printed my “Tis the Season” printable at Staples and then mounted it to the back of the window pane.
Among the garland I hung these simple wood snowflakes that I picked up from Target this year. The look beautiful with the wood trees I got a few years back.
Across the other side of the room I dressed up my vintage door with a Marquee sign and a lighted garland. This is probably my favorite part of the entire room!
At night it really stands out and illuminates the entire room!
I’ve got my nativity and advent calendar set up in the corner, being watched over closely by my deer with gold antlers.
The deer was a gift from my mom last year and I keep it up all year. I do think it just fits that much better at Christmas! The countdown around it’s neck was a new addition this year!
As I mentioned earlier, we are still under construction, so it was hard to decorate the kitchen due to the unfinished drywall and unfinished walls!
Even though it’s still “in progress” I still hung a few garlands and stuck a nutcracker up on my open shelves!
I also hung a few snowflake ornaments from our pendant cage lights!
In the new “open shelving” cabinet I just added some greenery, antlers, and a paper chain.
I also took another shutter from my pile of shutters and spray painted it red to make a Christmas Card display. I like it so much I’m considering spraying it another one a more neutral color for the rest of the year!
On my Kitchen Gallery Wall I added some Christmas cheer to it by switching out some of the prints for Christmas ones.
On some of the frames I didn’t even switch out the art, I just taped Christmas printables right over them! I also tried my hand at some chalkboard art and enjoyed attempting a bit of sketching!
The boys took care of the decorating in their room, which meant their tree became a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” tree! It can’t all be beautiful right? They love it though so that’s really all that counts.
And there you have our 2014 Christmas Home Tour! Although it’s not perfect, it’s our home, and I am working on embracing it’s simple beauty and enjoying the Christmas memories that we make in it! I hope that you are inspired to love your space, and make it a happy home, especially at Christmas!
