Last weekend we celebrated Jackson’s 8th birthday party. He is such a sweet boy and his only birthday request was to spend it at my parent’s farm with his cousins and grandparents. Thankfully my parents were up for hosting the party and we were able to have the perfect farm birthday party.
Because my parents live on a farm, with a beautifully decorated farmhouse, the decor was fairly easy.
I just ordered some of these cowboy hats, bandanas, and this gingham banner. Of course we also included lots of red and blue balloons in our decor. **Contains Affiliate Links**
When I ordered the banner I actually thought it would be WAY smaller, but when this arrived I instantly loved it! Having it be way oversized gave it a super fun almost cartoon-ish look.
The bandanas served as fun decor, and also a great favor for all of the cousins to take home.
Along with their bandanas they also each got to wear and take home one of these cowboy hats. I always would prefer to bring home one nice favor from a party than tons of little trinkets that instantly get thrown away.
Jack also requested a Piñata at his party. I found this tractor piñata on Amazon that we filled with candy. We truly only put a little bit of candy into it, but it was more about getting to break the piñata open than what it was actually filled with.
My dad loves an excuse to use his tractor, so hooking up the hay wagon as a party activity was right up his alley. We got my ENTIRE family on the wagon, all the way from my eight month old nephew up to my ninety-five year old grandpa.
I’m pretty sure every single one of us loved riding around my parents property on the wagon.
My dad also completely blew everyone away when he had the neighbor bring her horses over for all of the kids to ride.
So between the Piñata, Hayride, and Horse Rides our party entertainment was completely taken care of. We also had lawn games and some outdoor toys set up. I just LOVE this picture of the boy cousins “fixing” the girls’ “broke down” wagon.
Somehow we didn’t take a single picture of the food, but we had the BEST menu of ribs, watermelon, and corn on the cob. Oh and of course ice cold root beer in bottles.
This party was so simple, but so fun. Of course it was made so much easier by my parents being wiling to host. That being said, as much as I love a beautiful staged party, sometimes a great party is as simple as a few bandanas, cowboy hats, and a tractor piñata. A simple party is also ALWAYS made more wonderful by a great family and good friends.
