Today I’m revealing our COMPLETED Master Bedroom! This is the first room to be 100% done in our new house! I completed this modern master bedroom with wardrobes as part of the “New Year New Room Challenge“, hosted by Stephanie of Casa Watkins Living.
Master Bedroom Before
Here is how the room looked when we purchased the house… cream colored walls and ceiling, maroon mini blinds and all.
Master Bedroom After
It was not even two short years ago that I revealed our last Master Bedroom, and I knew that I wanted to take this one a different direction. I’ve been really inspired by minimalist, masculine, Scandinavian spaces lately, and this was my first attempt at creating a space with those elements in mind.
Before moving in, I painted the walls and ceiling Benjamin Moore “Chantilly Lace”. We also had a light box added to this room, and we installed this light from West Elm (which is sadly discontinued). I polled my readers on Facebook and Instagram about which bench to choose and this grey tufted one was the definite majority vote.Â
This rug came from my boys’ bedroom and I love the way that it looks in here. We installed these Roman Shades from Blindster that we love. They’re the “Group C Roman Shades” in the fabric “tulum graphite”. I also installed these awesome sconces that I’m obsessed with.
The faux leather channel tufted headboard was a DIY project and I absolutely love how it turned out. Actually I’m sitting in bed, leaning against it as I type this post.
When I found this Scandinavian quilt I knew that I had to make it work in this room. I actually bought a second quilt in the twin size and made a body pillow cover out of it. Three decorative pillows is a simple happy compromise for my husband and I.
The dresser was a vintage score from a few years back. Here is a similar version at West Elm, and here is a great one from Target. The birch tree canvas above it used to hang in our bathroom and is from Hobby Lobby.
Other Master Bedroom Posts
Just in case you missed out on the prior week’s post, here they are in order:
Week 1- Before and Mood Board
Week 2- Ikea Pax Wardrobes
Week 3- Faux Leather Channel Tufted Headboard
Week 4- Black Windows without Painting!
Below I’m sharing a few clickable images for you to “shop the room”.
I’m so happy to have accomplished the minimalist, Scandinavian modern look that I was hoping for in this room. You might have caught a sneak peek of the master bathroom in this shot! Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this post has inspired you that creating a room you love doesn’t have to cost a ton, and often you can DIY many items to get the look you’re going for!
