Last weekend we headed 90 minutes west to Madison, Wisconsin where we toured a bunch of the homes from their Parade of Homes. This is one of my all time favorite activities, and this parade did not disappoint! I took a ton of pictures of the modern home trends I’m loving! I’m SO excited to share these all with you!
Although white exteriors are a modern trend, I really do think they’re also timeless. I just love how these ones look with black windows and black roofs!
As good as those white exteriors are, these dark ones TOTALLY won me over. This first one was my very favorite, but they’re all just SO good! I also LOVE how black windows look with the black exteriors. Back at our “Auction House” I took on painting the whole house and I loved how it looked.
Black Front Doors
As much as I love those dark exteriors I LOVE these dark front doors! I painted the front door black at our last house, and I’d love to update the accents on our current house to be black too.
I’ve always wanted to install black windows, but the closest I’ve gotten is painting our kitchen windows black! I absolutely love the way that they pop in all of these homes.
Hidden Pantries and Butler’s Pantries
These hidden pantries were awesome! It’s so unique how they fit right into the cabinetry! I also saw multiple butler’s pantries, which is such a fun vintage idea! I love that you can hide away some of your dinner mess when entertaining!
Wainscotting and Shiplap Walls
Just about every house on the tour had statement walls that included wainscotting or shiplap! This first house even had a hidden door to the library on the panel where the post it is located! If you’re looking to add something similar, check out these posts:

Bold Statement Wallpaper
I saw SO much gorgeous wallpaper that it made me want to go home and install some! In our last house I had some gorgeous bold wallpaper but I’m itching for a bit of drama in this house!
Our current house is the first one I’ve ever used brass in and I’m happy to know that this trend isn’t going anywhere! There were so many beautiful examples of places to add brass to your home! I’ve written posts about my favorite brass pendant lights, and my favorite brass bathroom fixtures.
I know that was a super picture heavy post, but I hope that you enjoyed seeing them all! Even though we can’t all own beautiful model homes, many of these modern design trends are ones that we can add to any home! Maybe you’ve been inspired to add a bit of brass? Or maybe to add some bold wallpaper? Thank you so much for reading today!
**Because these were all parade homes, I don’t have the sources or details on things like paint colors and furniture**
