Hey all! Today I am SO overly excited to share our new bedroom fireplace with you all! This modern fireplace surround totally makes the entire room! Actually, I love it so much that I’m currently typing this post from bed by the fireside!
Check out what we had in this space before…nothing!
Because it would make this post CRAZY long, I’m going to save all the details on exactly how we built the electric fireplace for my next post. Since I know you’re curious though, here’s a collage that shows all the basics:
So once I got the electric fireplace surround built, adding AirStone to the fireplace was the icing on the cake. The best part is that installing the airstone was SO easy! First, I watched the Airstone installation video.
Shopping for the Perfect Surround Product:
I started out with a trip to Lowes where I chose two cartons of Airstone in the color “Birch Bluff”. It’s located in building materials and at my store was located on the top shelf of the rack!
Installing an Airstone Fireplace Surround:
Next I went through both cartons and separated the stone packs by tone, as indicated by the color of the plastic wrap.
Then came the installation. I used a putty knife and Airstone’s Ready to Use Wall Adhesive. It was as simple as icing a cupcake; simply spread adhesive onto the back of each stone and press to the wall.
For the pieces that needed cutting, I used my miter saw with a masonry blade (a blade without teeth). The Airstone cut so smoothly this way, but it’s not required to use a power saw. The Airstone can even be cut with a simple hacksaw! I created a video to show you how easy it was to cut.
I was so happy to see how beautiful the light colored stone looked against the dark background.
Now that the Airstone is installed I am 100% obsessed with this fireplace! It really has turned our bedroom into my favorite place in our home!
Airstone is not only for fireplaces, but for anywhere that you’d like to add some texture and dimension. It can be used indoors and outdoors as well! I can see using it on an accent wall, a backsplash, or even a kitchen island! Don’t be intimidated by having to “build a fireplace”, instead by inspired to use this gorgeous product somewhere in your home! Head to Airstone’s Facebook or Instagram for more details!
It’s so awesome, Jess! LOVe the color, too!
Aw thanks Cassie!
I am so impressed that you tackle these types of projects! You are motivating me to try to do some of the work needed on my (presently no functioning) fireplace! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Awesome! I’m so glad I can inspire and motivate you! Thanks for commenting!
