Bright Green Door

Come on in and be inspired!

Modern Bathroom with Subway Tile Reveal

February 9, 2018 By BrightGreenDoor

Today is the day, I’m FINALLY revealing the the modern bathroom with subway tile that I have worked on tirelessly!
Modern Bathroom with Subway Tile

The day that we closed on our Stone Ranch I started into the demo of this bathroom. In case you’re new, this was the master bathroom “before”.

Master Bathroom Before

I’m not going to get into all the renovation details here, but if you’re curious, here’s the post where I shared the reno details. It explains the layout, the demo, and how we got to this point.
Black and White Modern Bathroom

Once we had everything framed, I spent weeks sanding drywall, and then even more weeks laying and hanging tile. In this post I went into detail on all things tile related. Of course this took FAR longer than I expected. I basically tiled all of January.Shower with Window

The window in the shower threw me for a bit of a loop, but I decided to roll with it and I’m so glad I did. We have a super private backyard, and the bottom half of the window is frosted. I love all the natural light that it lets in.Subway Tile Shower and Bathroom

I went with this toilet, and I absolutely love it as much as you can love a toilet. If you look close there’s no ledge on the bottom to catch dust… or little boy pee.Modern Bathroom with Subway Tile and Dresser

In this post I talked all about the brass fixtures that I chose for the bathroom. I’m pretty sure brass will not be timeless, but it’s a trend that I love so much that I was willing to take a risk! Vintage Modern Bathroom with Brass Fixtures I went with the paint color Sherwin Williams “Night Owl” and I really love it. It’s the same color I used on this kitchen island yet it looks totally different in here. Sometimes it looks more green, other times more grey. In full sunlight it is bright, and at night it almost looks to be a deep dark green. I love moody colors like that.Modern Bathroom with Dresser Vanity

This is the first post where I’ve revealed this gorgeous Mid-Century vanity though! Isn’t it great?! Hopefully next week I’ll write a post sharing everything you need to know about how we converted a dresser into a vanity.  This dresser is 54″ long, which made it possible to fit a double vanity, vs most of the 60″ double vanities. I went with a 36″ wide shower and I”m SO glad I sacrificed on vanity length for the wider shower.

For all the sources you can click on the images below. I couldn’t include the wall hanging, but here is the affiliate link for it. My mirror is vintage from a estate sale, but in our last house I used the Umbra mirror that I linked to and I loved it. I may actually upgrade to that one so that I don’t have any scratches or imperfections on it.

Modern Bathroom with Wood and Brass

I still have a few details to wrap up, like installing the door, adding a floor threshold, and touching up the paint in a few places. I just couldn’t wait any longer to share this bathroom with you!Master Bathroom with Vintage Rug

This modern bathroom with subway tile was a HUGE undertaking, and it wasn’t cheap. We hired out the plumbing and electrical, but tackled everything else ourselves. Even though it was a TON of money, I really believe that it is money well spent and will add tons of value to our home. We’ll also have completely new plumbing and electrical, and have things up to code like having bathroom fans, GFCI breakers, etc. Thanks so much for reading! If you’d like to see other bathrooms we’ve updated, I am including a list of them here:
