This “Hello Fall Home Tour” is a great example of simple decor that makes a big impact.
Happy Fall friends! Did you know that today is the first day of Fall?! I’m so happy to be here today, hosting the “Hello Fall Home Tours”! It’s a blog hop featuring nine bloggers, all with gorgeous homes decorated for Fall. I’ll start with our “Fall-ified” front porch. Our kitty wouldn’t stop photo bombing… so eventually I just went with it. She’s sort of like a Halloween “black cat” anyways!
**This post contains affiliate links** My Fall decor strategy is what I like to call “one bin decorating”. Basically… I have ONE bin of Fall Decor. Every year I re-evaluate when I’m packing things up and I only keep one bin of decor. By having only one bin, it makes pulling it out and decorating fun, rather than stressful. Along with the one bin, I also always get a pumpkin for each member of our family. This “home sweet home” is my favorite and that sticks around for every season! This wreath is a new addition to this year’s Fall decor. I really love the way the leaf colors pop against the green barn door.
My letterboard has proven to be great decor for ALL seasons! The same goes for the buffalo check rug in front of the oven. It floats from room to room but never gets packed up!
I’m still swooning over how beautiful our kitchen looks with the new countertops and backsplash. Decorating for Fall in the kitchen just involves lots of Fall foods! A plate full of apples means more apples are being consumed daily than ever! A plate full of our favorite pumpkin muffins means we’re all eating just as many muffins as apples!
If you follow me on Instagram you might know the table saga, so I’ll try and keep it short here. I wanted a round table. I ordered this one online and sold our old table. First the base arrived without a top. Then after many phone calls and frustration a very damaged top arrived. Target offered to re-ship the whole table. We waited over a month (table-less), then ANOTHER base arrived without a top. I finally refused the second base and got a refund. Now I need to find a new round table. In the mean time our folding table is a stand-in.
With some careful photography, you almost can’t tell it’s a plastic folding table! I found this roll of buffalo check wrapping paper for $3 at Michaels and just rolled it down the table! Then I added a vase full of cut hydrangeas from our garden. I also updated the oversized photos on the wall with these free Fall printables.Â
The other basket is full of fake pumpkins and gourds which also came from Michaels. Here is the view looking into the dining room. I just swapped out the faux succulets in my hanging planters for some Fall foliage instead.
Fall is also when I pull out extra throw blankets and cozy pillow covers. I also swapped my wax warmers for nice fall scents. Anything to create the Hygge right?!
The other recent new purchase is the wreath around the bull’s neck! I really love the pop of green and I could see this wreath roating around the house all year long. Good thing too because it wouldn’t fit into my Fall bin! Our living room is where we do EVERYTHING. From me working during the day, to homeschooling, to Netflix marathons at night. I love creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere in here. The “Give Thanks” banner was from Target a few years ago. I like having it hung there as a constant reminder!
The rest of the living room got a few fall decorations mixed into the built in cabinets. I also swapped out the taper candles for black ones for Halloween!
I hope this post inspired you that beautiful seasonal decor doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Most years I’ll add a piece or two and usually I’ll donate a few things from past years. This year I chose not to use any of my leaf garlands. I just kept them packed away in the bin. If I don’t use them next year I’ll be sure to donate them to make space for new things! Please be sure to check out the other bloggers in the “Hello Fall” blog hop! Next up is Melissa from “Polished Habitat“! To shop for the items featured just click on the images below. everything looks awesome, jess! and i don’t think i would have noticed the table being a folding table without your mentioning it because you made it look so good!
Aw thanks Cassie. A master of disguise! I was really stressing until I rolled out the buffalo check paper! That helped disguise it!
Thanks so much for organizing this Jess!! I love your one bin of decor philosophy. It does make it less stressful! Even with just one bin you’ve managed to transform your entire house for Autumn and it’s beautiful! My favorite is that wreath on your green door. And I too have used a folding table for a dining table stand in with a long white tablecloth, you would never know! lol Hope your dining table shopping gets easier!
Aw thank you. You are always so kind. I also love how that fall wreath pops on the fall door. I thought I’d be the only Home Blogger out there without a proper table! Honestly I’ll probably take a break from the table saga for a while… too frustrating waiting on deliveries in a rural location. Although I shouldn’t complain… it’s probably even harder for you!
Your home is so gorgeous and I love all your fall touches. And that stenciled tile is just Wow! Thanks so much for organizing this fall home tour.
Thank you so much! Glad I could pull it all together so late in the game. Thanks for participating! Also thanks for your kind compliments on the stenciled tile. It’s my favorite too!
Thanks so much for coordinating the fun tour today! Your whole house looks SO great with the fall decor, but I’m especially obsessed with the front porch. And the 1 tub idea is a brilliant rule.
I enjoyed coordinating! Maybe next year we can do it again and make it even bigger! Thank you so much. The porch really is gorgeous. Glad my 1-tub rule isn’t too crazy for a home blogger!
I think it was meant to be that your round table never happened…..the long rectangle shape looks much better in that space….I can envision one with a bench seat on one side and chairs on the other side, and chairs with arms on the ends….that style would look great with your kitchen cabinets as well!!! Good luck!!
Thanks so much! I was really looking forward to the circular shape, but I agree a rectangle looks great too. I used to have armchairs on the ends but when we added the breakfast bar it looked a bit cramped. Thank you so much!
your house is looking really nice! You said you watch netflix in your living room but I don’t see a TV…where is it? Also, your tile backsplash looks fantastic. The choice to use black grout really makes the whole kitchen look really modern…well done.
I’m glad I successfully kept it out of the pics! It’s on the far left, in the corner on the left side of the built ins. It’s on a pivoting wall mount that I pivot away when we’re not using it. Thanks so much for your kind compliments!
Gorgeous! Love every detail! So happy we were able to do this tour!
Aw thank you so much. That’s such an honor coming from someone whose style I admire so much. Thank you!
Haha my dog always photobombs, too so I usually just end up giving in! Such a good idea to keep one bin of fall decor instead of getting overwhelmed. I always love seeing your painted tile, too! Thanks for organizing such a great tour!
Darn kitties, this is our first time having cats and they always want to be right where we are! Yes the one bin method is everything. I do splurge for Christmas and have two bins though!
