Recently my friend Erin purchased her first home! She’s a single teacher, and it’s a solid practical home that’s lacking in character. I’m so excited to help her give it some farmhouse character on a budget! Here’s how the dining room and kitchen look today:
One of the first things we’ll be doing is replacing the light fixtures. I rounded up a bunch of farmhouse chandeliers under $200.
Changing out a light fixture is one of the easiest ways to add character to a space. I felt like $200 was a fairly “budget friendly” range, but just in case you’re on a smaller budget, here are some of the DIY lights I’ve made in the past:
- Brass Geometric Light
- DIY Metal Basket Light
- Kitchen Pendant Cage Lights
- Metal Farmhouse Industrial Light
- ORB Chandelier from Garden Baskets
- Industrial Light from Metal Work Light
Another idea I had was that we could create “basket lights” like the ones in this post.
I was also thinking it might be cool to make a leather fringe light like this one, using this light fixture (contains affiliate links):
I’m so excited to see which ones she chooses! I’ll definitely share an update with the after photos!
