Coffee Table Into Upholstered Ottoman

How to turn a Coffee Table Into Upholstered Ottoman

During garage sale season I was in search of a coffee table that I could turn into an ottoman, and it seemed like at every garage sale I went to I would find one I loved, even cheaper than the last. Actually I paid $10 for the first one, and $1 a piece for the next three. So by mid July I had 4 coffee tables all sitting in the garage, waiting for some love. (I actually bought a 5th today that I just couldn’t pass up for .50 cents!)
In the end I chose this one (and placed the others randomly throughout the house). It started out a bit rough, but I loved the tapered mid-century legs.

After some Orange-Glo and scrubbing it was actually looking like a pretty respectable table, but my mind was made up on turning this one into an ottoman/bench.

So I ordered this fabric, asked begged my mom to purchase and bring me some 3″ foam (believe it or not there is not one craft store within 90 miles!), and went to town upholstering this bad boy.

Because we don’t have an entryway at the front door the bench works perfectly as a spot to sit and take off your shoes, while it can also be a coffee table for the living room, and it is an end table for the couch.

Cute! How do you have time for SO many projects, Miss Domestic?? I have wanted to do this too but I don’t seem to get things done as quickly as you do. 🙂

This one was seriously easy. Really I think it took about 15 minutes once I had all my supplies. As long as you have a staple gun you are in business. As I type this I realized this was one project that didn’t take 10x longer than expected to accomplish!

FYI, that table is a Lane Acclaim table and goes for $150. Nice job though.
