Bright Green Door

Come on in and be inspired!

Christmas Home Tour 2018

December 3, 2018 By BrightGreenDoor

Hey friends! Today I’m super excited to share my 2018 Christmas Home Tour with you all! If you’re coming over from Domicile 37, welcome!

This year I decided to simplify a bunch of my Christmas decor and limit it only to things I REALLY love. It’s amazing how doing this really spotlights my favorite decor, and also gave me a new excitement for Christmas decorating! With no mantel or railing, I hung our stockings under this front entry window and I love the way that they look in here!  I also added a faux magnolia garland on half the window which is just right.

The only place I didn’t minimize is the tree! Our tree is so full of ornaments that we could hardly find open places to hang them! I’ve been collecting ornaments since I was a little girl and each of my kids already has a bunch now too!

Over on the fireplace, I hung a vintage banner and some red wood beads over the macrame which stays there year round. I also swapped out the succulents that typically live in my hanging planters for some bells and gold disco balls!

The built ins got a bit of re-arranging for Christmas and I added a Santa print and my bottle brush trees. In that chest on the top shelf is the Frankincense, Gold, and Myrrh that my parents brought back from the Middle East years ago! I love switching out my letterboard with the seasons, and I just love this verse as a reminder of what we’re celebrating!

Every year I bundle the prior year’s Christmas cards with a ribbon and we all enjoy looking through the old photo cards! A few other traditions we all love are hanging our felt mistletoe, setting up the Nativity, and the kids absolutely love setting up my Christmas village and accessories.

Christmas Home Tour Traditions

On the side of our fridge cabinet I hung an old shutter that I like to use for displaying current Christmas cards. I also added a gorgeous faux garland over our arched opening.

At Christmastime we love entertaining and getting creative with cocktails! Last year my mom gave us these “Old Fashioned” glasses that I put on display. Because we don’t have a bar cart in this house, this cake stand is our mini “bar cart”.

This is my first Christmas with a full Dining Room and all this space is wonderful for entertaining! In here I kept the table really simple with some candles and white ceramic trees.

Finally I couldn’t resist sharing my kids sweet little trees! These were done with no parental input they’re SO proud of their little trees!

Just gorgeous Jess! I love all of the traditional family pieces you have especially the styled shelves with the gold, Frankincense, myrrh. Very cool. And the half magnolia garland in the foyer is perfect! I bet having that beautiful dining room will make this year is even better. Merry Christmas friend! (And thanks for switching with me!) xoxo

Thank you so much Kathy! Yes I love decor that has a story like the chest of gold, frankincense and myrrh. It makes it all so much more meaningful!
