This Brown Bear, Brown, Bear Color learning Chain is a great gift and learning activity.
The book “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?” has been a favorite of my boys since they were little. Then last year at preschool Jack made a paper chain to go along with the book. As you turn each page it coordinates with the color in the book.
Jack’s paper chain got so much use that eventually it was torn to shreds and I promised to make him one out of fabric that would last. Now that it’s Christmas I decided to make good on my promise and even make one for my book loving nephew.
It was pretty simple, I just cut strips of colored felt into 1.5″x9″ strips and then used my sewing machine to make felt circles. I sewed every other circle first, and then connected them.
Most of the colors were pretty obvious: Brown (bear), Red (bird), Yellow (duck), Blue (horse), Green (frog), Purple (cat), White (dog), Black (sheep), Gold (I used orange)(fish), Pink (what I randomly chose for teacher), and turquoise (children).
This would make a great preschool or homeschool activity, a fun rainy/snowy day activity, or a great gift idea!
