Hey friends! Currently I’m helping a friend with some design decisions for the Retro house that they’re completely re-doing. They’re choosing fixtures that have a modern look, and they asked me to help them find a dining room chandelier. I ended up finding twelve great options for them, and today I’m going to share them with you.

One thing to consider when choosing modern light fixtures, is that the type of bulb that you use, will completely determine the look of your light. There are SO many different different bulb choices to consider.
Lindsay from the White Buffalo Styling Co. used small white round bulbs to modernize a light that would have been considered more traditional. Check out her post to also see how she used clear round bulbs in a different fixture for a totally different look.
Just look at how different this identical light fixture looks with two different types of bulbs:
I’ve also always thought it would be cool to use tubular bulbs like these in the right light. My friend hasn’t picked a light yet, but honestly I think tons of these would look great in her new dining room. Hopefully I’ll be able to share a construction walk-through with you on the blog soon! Lastly I wanted to encourage you that even if you don’t live in a modern home (Like me), that doesn’t mean modern fixtures can’t look great! I say go with what you love and your home will look great!
