Hey friends! Last week I shared my plans to makeover our girl room closet. I actually haven’t made any progress on the closet, but I did do a bunch of shopping and planning! As a reminder here’s how the closet looks now:
In the past week I completely used up my entire $100! This dresser was a steal for $30, and is the jumping off point for everything else. I’m not sure if I’ll use it across the back under the clothes, or on the side under the shelves, but either way I’m pumped to have some functional storage.
Vintage Dresser ($30 from the Habitat Restore)
Crystal Light (regularly $25 but $21 on an Amazon Warehouse Deal)
Wood Hanging Rail (Regularly $10, on Clearance at Local Target for $5)
Brass Hooks (Regularly $5, on Clearance at Local Target for $2.50 x 4)
Door Mirror ($15 at Target)
Drawer Pulls ($12 on Amazon)
Closer Door Knob ($13 on Amazon)
Ikea Spice Rack ($3.99 from Ikea but I had one on hand so I’m not counting it in the total!)
Wood Clothes Pins ($1.79 at Target)
Running Total (30+21+5+10+15 +12+13+2= $108)
Ok, so I actually am $8 over budget (GASP!)… which means I’m done spending and I have to work with what I have!
I’m planning on using Amy Howard One Step paint in “Drama Queen” to paint the dresser. Thankfully I have a healthy supply of my favorite paint on hand so I’m not counting that in my total. I’m also planning on pulling out my gold spray paint to spray the drawer pulls, the chandelier, and anything else that I decide needs to be gold! Since gold spray paint is practically a staple here, I didn’t count that in my total either. Just to keep things real though, if I had to purchase paint I’d be adding $35 and $5 to the total for an extra $40.
I also kept the remnants from when I hung the wallpaper mural in her room. So this is free, but if you wanted to get the same look you could always use cheap acrylic paint and freehand some flowers!
I’d really like to grab a few of these storage bins, which would put me WAY over budget. We’ll see if I end up pulling the trigger or if I can find a way to swing it! If I can sell the old wicker hamper on our local Facebook page maybe I’ll count that back into the budget.
There’s two weeks left until reveal week, so hopefully next week I’ll be able to share pictures with TONS of progress! Until then I’ll be busy painting… the dresser, the light, the walls, and the knobs! If you’ve got no budget and a space that could use some love, I hope this series inspires you to get creative and tackle it!
