The next step to adding some color to the basement is in this coffee table that I picked up last summer for $1! It was funny because when I offered the girl a dollar for it, her and her friend were high-fiving like they were happy to be pawning it off. I was pumped as it was my 4th or 5th $1 coffee table of the summer. It was pretty beat up but I liked the legs.
In August I picked up a swatch of this "Glamis Spa" from fabric.com and instantly fell in love with it. Then it went discontinued and I had to pay way too much for it ($13.98/yd). That's what I get for waiting 6 months to order it.
So then when my friend Stephanie came for coffee last week I fed her some delicious lunch and convinced her to stay for some upholstering! (sneaky huh??) What a friend.
There's a million tutorials on how to upholster a bench, so I'll just show you the finished product. I'm in love! Maybe someday I'll stain the legs dark, but for now it works with the futon. I also love how it brings a ton of pattern and color to my very bare basement.

I LOVE this! Your house is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's coming along. I can finally sit down and just appreciate being home, rather than noticing all the things I need to get done.
DeleteLooks GREAT down there, so bright and fresh and FUN!!! It was fun covering it with you, but we really should have taken a few more photos, so you could get a better one of me pretending to be the ottoman model! LOL!!!! :-) Let's get crafty some MORE!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have done it without you. At least not that day! And without your hammering skills it would be coming undone. Next time I'll be sure to take more photos and let you pre-screen them!
