As you know, Sak Saum holds a special place in my heart and currently I am fundraising to help raise $10,000 to stop human trafficking. Recently my friend Audrey hosted a few Sak Saum parties where she sold many of the bags that the Sak Saum girls have sewed! I chose this bag, the "SaSa". It wasn't until I got home and started reading more of the Sak Saum blog where I read the story behind the, "SaSa" bag that I want to share with you:
Exciting day in Sak Saum! We were busy working on party orders for the holidays when our girls brought one of our newest bags downstairs, sewn and ready to be sold. SaSa has arrived!
But, of course, you all know that Sak Saum is about WAY more than a bag. It is about people. And SaSa, the bag, is actually named after one of our girls, a beautiful and joyful young woman. We try to match our bags' names with the right personality. SaSa's design reflects its namesake -- gentle, feminine, light-hearted. SaSa has been a part of our ministry for several months now and excels in jewelry-making and finding just the right accent for our accessories. She recently joined our design team and is helping formulate new designs for the spring line. We are so excited to see her grow.
Our prayer is always that our girls will find healing, value and life through a relationship with Jesus. We never pressure them to do this but just pray that, through our love and actions, their hearts would open. We are so happy to tell you that SaSa gave her life to Jesus this past weekend. Tears of joy flowed as she experienced peace and love to a depth she never had before. Praise God! We often say that our bags are a reflection of a changed life. When you buy the bag SaSa, we hope you will remember the girl for whom it is named and the incredible work God is doing in her.
My new purse is not only my favorite new accessory, but it led to redemption of women from human trafficking, as well as the salvation into God's kingdom of "SaSa".

I love this!!! I'm wondering if you've seen the movie Trade of Innocents? It came out in the fall, and I don't know how many cities it is going to, but a family at our church helped produce it and it is all about human trafficking, and set in Cambodia. If it isn't coming to Dickinson on its own maybe your church could host a viewing? The movie website has ways to set that up I think. I may order a couple of those purses for my girls--they love accessories!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about it but now I'm really interested! I just downloaded their list of abolitionist activities and added the movie to my Amazon watch list, hopefully I can watch it soon! Thanks for letting me know about it. I'm doing a Sak Saum table at a vendor fair on March 2nd, if you want I can text you some of the bags that might be good for your girls! I might have something like a headband or hair bow too.
